I was in hospitalized due to an illness and was unable to make my car payments simply because I did not have the means of transferring enough funds in to my account for the payments to be taken. When I was discharged I contacted TD Auto Finance and spoke to lady and explained the situation as to how I had been ill and hospitalized.

She sympathized and said she could clearly hear from my voice that I was not well as I was having difficulty breathing while speaking. She said she would put a stop on the payments so I would not be charged for insufficient balance by my bank. I told her that I would be receiving my short term disability within a couple of weeks and would then be able to make my payments and clear the outstanding balance. When I returned to work I contacted TD Auto Finance and asked them to begin taking the payments again and to debit the amount which had been accrued during my sickness.

However TD did not make any debit soon after my car is repossessed by the bailiffs. When I contacted TD I was put through to a company who were acting upon TD's behalf saying I was $1520 behind in payments I explained everything to them however they said I would need to contact the company who repossessed my car and they will advise what I need to do next. I contact the repo company who told me that I would need to have the insurance documents faxed to them by the broker who my insurance was valid for 3 months or more. Even though I had insurance on my car which expired May 2018 I had to pay $600 to get a further 3 months.

The lady at the who I spoke to at the repo company said the cost for the bailiffs would be approx $700, furthers charges for the vehicle being kept in the compound, the middle company acting upon TD's behalf would charge approx $150 + tax and then of course the $1520 for payments owed.with taxes and fee's I am probably looking at $2500 to get my car back. I can't believe that I am being penalized for something that TD is responsible for. In the past when I have asked for my payments to be taken bi weekly and not monthly they still continued to take them monthly. When I contacted them about this they said initially I had made no call and then said because the call was disconnected the TD rep was unable to action the request.

They had my contact number why would they simply not call back ? I had no letters regarding the repossession of my car nor did anyone contact me to say payments were not being debited. I have only recently gone back to work and am trying to stabalize my situation and TD go and spring this surprise on me. I know TD will simply deny any knowledge of my conversation with them asking them to begin taking payments again and to debit the amount which was due while I was in hospital sick.

Can anyone advise in this matter?

I have no problem in paying the amount that had accrued but the cost to the repo company compound fees and the middle company for TD are costs which I should not have to pay for. Please if someone is able to advise me in this situation I would be very grateful. I need my car for work and due to ill health can not walk.

These extra charges will simply break my back. My only option is to Kill myself and end my life an individual who is dealing with depression alone I can see no other option but to end everything and that can only be done by ending my life

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

$1520.00 PAST DUE!! You were repoed due to non payment which IS THIER RIGHT!!

Most vehicle payments are between $300-$500 a month. So by your own admission you were MANY months behind! Then you get โ€œsickโ€. At what point are you going to just admit that THIS SITUATION is your own fault?

You didnโ€™t pay what you LEGALLY OWED and the vehicle was repoed. Thatโ€™s is what happens when you DO NOT pay your bills! Why you people expect compassion and understanding from a CONTRACT I will never understand. You claim you didnโ€™t have a way to transfer money yet you seem to have the ability to go online and whine.

Why didnโ€™t you use your banking institutions online services? The point is that YOU wish to place ALL of the blame on the company for doing what YOU SAID THEY COULD!!! You agreed in writing that YOU were the responsible party and that YOU would make ALL of your payments on time. You agreed that if you did not make your payments that the vehicle WILL be taken back.

All of this is what YOU signed your name to. Now that youโ€™ve gotten โ€œsickโ€ you use that as a justification to NOT PAY. So PLEASE by what logic do YOU justify your post? They are only doing the job YOU SAID you agreed to.

Itโ€™s understandable to get sick and not work, but it doesnโ€™t change the contract you signed. YOU are the one in breach of contract yet YOU FEEL itโ€™s THIER fault. Thankfully you show more integrity then most of the whiners here by catching up on your payments.

Itโ€™s understandable to be upset but youโ€™re upset with yourself. Donโ€™t take your anger out on a innocent party because you screwed up.

Are you stupid!!! The reason I was behind in payments was due to being in hospital for 5 months!!

As for online banking you can only transfer funds to a checking account or a regular savings account!! You canโ€™t transfer from a fixed account or TFSA!!!

Finally For ur kind information the car was returned once the payments were bought up to date and all the other costs were removed and when investigated it was found TD had not followed any of the protocol required before repossession. And the outstanding amount could have easily been taken from my fixed account, whereas I had been by the Customer Service Rep this was not possible and I would need to go into a branch to make the transfer which at the time was impossible for me to do.

No...Are Y-O-U STUPID??? You entered into a business deal controlled by a contract which YOU agreed to.

YOU failed to make your payments on time without regard to the excuse!

As such, they exercised their right under the contract, WHICH YOU AGREED TO, and did a repo. END OF STORY!

TD or any bank are run by some that enjoy having a sense of power over people. For years I cash my expense cheques there.

Because I got a more a higher than usual cheque to cash they decided to do a credit check on me. My credit is on hold due to identity theft, big mess. Anyway, loyal customer for 30 years no debt and they put my cheque on hold for 10 business days saying I am a risk with credit. My point is, this was a manager's decision.

She actually seemed pleased with herself that I have to wait 2 weeks for my money that I use to keep my credit cards at zero balance. Don't let them get to you. Don't do something stupid like take your own life. Esculate your complaint to TD upper management and third parties like the media.

They should pay for the repo fee.

They need to retract the repo from your credit history also. Take them to court if that does not work in your favour.

This took place on the 17th April I emailed Customer Care and a manager responded saying she had forwarded my email to the relevant department. I got a 2nd email saying i would be contacted in 2/3 business days.

It is now April 27th and no one has contacted me. I have tried to follow up and keep getting the run around. Each I get told by the TD rep they wilk find out and call me.

No one has followed through.I am Disgusted with the attutude of this bank. They are liars, deceptive and thieves.
